Corporate Social Responsibility – a Business Direction

A survey titled “Attitudes of the Lithuanian Population towards the Role of Business in the Pandemic Period” conducted by the independent market research company RAIT Group for the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts (hereinafter referred to as the “Chamber”) showed that even during the pandemic, a higher proportion – 34% of the population – leaned towards those product/service brands that are socially responsible (only 24% said this issue does not affect their choice and 28% did not have an opinion).

Dr. Almantas Danilevičius, Director General of the Chamber and Vice President of the Advisory Board – Strategic Business Alliance at EUMMAS noted that the participants in this year’s two conferences for promoting corporate social responsibility hosted by the Chamber emphasized the importance of corporate social responsibility and the need for businesses to move in this direction.

In June, the Chamber and IQ magazine co-hosted a conference where business, NGO, and institutional leaders discussed the issue of private sector social responsibility and their visions for the future. The Vice-Minister of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania, along with representatives of the members of the Chamber – AB Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, AB Teltonika IoT Group and RAIT Group – politicians, members of the Seimas, representatives of ministries and the Office of the President attended the conference where they delivered speeches.

In September, the Chamber, in cooperation with Vilnius University Business School and the European Marketing and Management Association (EUMMAS), organized an international conference called “Pandemic Challenges and Opportunities for Corporate Social Responsibility”. Lithuanian and foreign experts shared their experiences and discussed sustainable labor relations and new forms of work organization, with a strong focus on responsible and sustainable business management practices.

“The participants in the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility project implemented by the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, and the speakers at the conference organized by the Chamber, including the representatives of both institutions and businesses, unanimously agreed that our clients, communities, and partners, as well as all target audiences, are paying more and more attention to a company’s sustainable activities, which also determines their final decision when it comes to choosing what to buy, whom to support and whom to build a business relationship with,” said the Vice-President of the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, Director of the VU Business School and EUMMAS Honorary Board Member, Dr. Birutė Miškinienė.
