We are thrilled to announce the successful establishment of the EUMMAS PhD Consortium, an exciting new initiative designed to foster academic collaboration and professional growth for PhD students within the EUMMAS Academic Consortium.
During the Honorary and Advisory Board Meeting held on February 24, 2025, the PhD Consortium was officially launched, with representatives from 18 different higher education institutions in attendance. This initiative aims to provide students and institutions with valuable opportunities for networking, mentorship, and guidance, as well as exposure to cutting-edge research. The consortium will also offer a platform for presenting and receiving feedback on research, improving research skills, fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary learning, building confidence, and supporting career development.
The EUMMAS PhD Consortium will serve as a dynamic space for students to connect with experienced mentors, gain insights into the latest research trends, and enhance their academic journey. This collaborative initiative is poised to create a thriving academic environment, empowering students to build strong professional networks and grow within their fields.
The meeting focused on establishing the EUMMAS PhD Consortium, an initiative aimed at connecting PhD students from various universities and enhancing collaboration through multicultural experiences, networking, and access to expertise.
It was decided that the consortium will be multidisciplinary, with each network member potentially hosting events in their country. The first event will be hosted by Vilnius University Business School, with plans for future events to rotate annually. The consortium will feature short seminars and workshops, where PhD students can present their research and receive feedback. Participation will not grant ECTS credits, and the events will focus on voluntary participation, with an emphasis on creating an inclusive and collaborative environment.
The organizing committee will move forward with detailed planning. Research will be conducted into potential Erasmus funding and other financial support, including EU funds, country-specific grants, and bilateral agreements. The possibility of creating an exchange program for PhD students was also discussed, alongside organizing special issues in academic journals to motivate participation.
EUMMAS members are invited to explore further funding opportunities and contribute to the development of the consortium. Future steps include distributing a survey to gauge interest among PhD students and preparing for the next Erasmus funding cycle.
All institutions are welcome to join the consortium and contribute to its growth and success.
