EUMMAS continues to strengthen its engagement in international academic cooperation through its involvement in the upcoming international conference, “Invited Spaces: Between Digitalization and De-Digitalization – Reconfiguring Participation, Direct Democracy and Public Values,” taking place in France on 10–11 June 2027.
Hosted at ISM-IAE de Versailles, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the conference will bring together researchers and experts from different countries to explore some of the most important questions surrounding democratic participation in an increasingly digital society.
As digital technologies continue to transform the ways citizens interact with public institutions, new opportunities emerge alongside important challenges related to inclusion, transparency, accountability and democratic decision-making. The conference will examine these developments while also considering alternative approaches, including de-digitalization and hybrid participation models.
The event provides an international platform for interdisciplinary research, academic exchange and comparative perspectives on democratic governance, institutional innovation and public values.
EUMMAS is pleased to be represented on the Scientific and Organizing Committee by Gilles Rouet, contributing to an initiative that connects academic expertise across institutions and national boundaries.
The conference also offers researchers an opportunity to contribute to a planned collective publication with selected papers to be submitted to Springer following the event.
We warmly encourage researchers, academics and doctoral candidates from EUMMAS member institutions and the wider international academic community to participate and submit their contributions.
The deadline for proposals is before 15 April 2027.
We look forward to another valuable opportunity for international academic dialogue, new research connections and future cooperation.
Conference: 10–11 June 2027, France
